The capacity-building focuses particularly on appropriate use hurricane straps in wood roof Puerto Rico, which was identified as area where engineering recommendations did not align with many perceptions safety. Three phases were used design, implement, assess approach. First, we interviewed staff local (NGOs) identify propositions Rico. We then a framework design Finally, piloted existing trainers community members who are repairing housing interviewing them after implementation analyze shifts results reveal interviewees’ perceived efficacy following capacity-building, leading express willingness mitigate risks appropriately installed straps.
